Yes, advance registration via the website is required, especially for the art walks, as space is limited in some cases. You do not need to bring your confirmation with you. If you are unable to attend the program you selected, please notify us at this email address: hello@artweekendbudapest.hu.

All programs are free for visitors, but registration is required.

Yes, we’d be delighted if you came with your child, a family member, or a friend. Be sure to check out our programs recommended for children and teens on the PROGRAMS page. When registering for a program, please indicate how many people will be attending with you.

The vast majority of the programs take place indoor. The walks will go ahead even in the case of rain or bad weather, so it’s a good idea to bring an umbrella and a raincoat and dress appropriately for the weather.

Most of the programs are conducted in Hungarian, but most venues also provide descriptions and guided tours in English. We specifically mark our English-language programs in the PROGRAMS section.

Art walks

The art walks take place from Friday through Sunday, with three departures each day (at 12:00, 14:00, and 16:00) along different routes. Each walk lasts approximately 1.5–2 hours and includes mini-guided tours of 3–4 exhibitions or studios located close to one another. You can read more about the art walks and sign up on the PROGRAMS page. The walks begin at the first location listed in the program, and a volunteer will accompany the group along the specified route. At the exhibition space, visitors are welcomed by a curator, art historian, or artist working on-site, who will discuss the exhibition. At the studio, you’ll meet the artist, who will talk about his/her past works and those currently in progress.

For art walks, the meeting point is always the first stop. Our volunteers help guide visitors along the walk. Feel free to turn to them with any questions about the festival.

During the art walk, you'll first meet our volunteers. They wait for visitors at the first stop and accompany them throughout the walk. At the exhibition, you may meet the guide, who is usually an art historian working at the venue, or the curator of the exhibition. It's also possible that the artists themselves will guide you through the exhibition. In the studios, the artist always welcomes us. Photo and video documentation is made of the event, so you may also meet our photographer colleague or members of the press. AWB organizers can be found on all three days, at a walk or program.

No problem—just follow us to the next location! At the first location, we’ll wait about 5 minutes for everyone to arrive before the guided tour begins, and then the program will start. Since we spend about 20 minutes at each location, you can easily join the group at any time. You can see which location is next on the MAP page. If you’d like to see the exhibition at the first location, feel free to go in and take a look, or you can always go back and see it during regular opening hours.

Locations

You can view all locations and routes on the MAP page of the website, whilst the LOCATIONS page contains detailed descriptions of each exhibition venue. You’ll also find printed maps at the festival venues – galleries, exhibition spaces, studios, etc. – so do help yourself to one and feel free to browse.
